Thank you so much for interacting with your fans! Another world building question: what do you imagine was Jacob's oceanographic discovery that got him into the Colloquium? And did he and his mother ever partner up with any field work as adults, ie was there any overlapping project in their work?

Marie Brennan I don't actually have an answer to that first one! (Honestly, I don't know enough about oceanography to come up with a good answer.) He and Isabella probably worked together at some point, though -- maybe further research on sea-serpents and their migratory life cycle, or something like that.

I love dragons and the way you wrote the Memoirs of Lady Trent. Thank you so much. I'm reading the forth book right now and wanted to know how was your inspiration for wrinting these books? I'm also a veterinarian especializing in large animal medicine and if dragons existed I would be the one trying to reach to them.
