Goodreads asked Sherry Allred:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Sherry Allred Scenario 1: If I am working on a novel where I hit a writer’s block, it might be an indication that I have turned down a dead-end road with that part of the plot...maybe the fork isn’t too far back up the road, but I usually retrace my steps and try the other direction.
Scenario 2: Sometimes, the inspiration isn’t coming for a certain story so I will switch gears and work on a different novel. It seems to loosen things up and I am soon able to return to the previous novel with new ideas.
Scenario 3: On occasions, I have drained my inspiration bucket so low that I just need a break to stimulate fresh ideas...so I will look in the theatres for an inspiring movie and go and see it...popcorn and all!
