What lead you to creating monsters in this savage song?

Victoria Schwab So much of my thought process is simply "What if?" I look at the world around me, and what's happening, and wonder what it would be like if I made a change, big or small. With the Monsters of Verity series, I was looking at all of the violence in my country, and the lack of change/progress coming out of it, and wondered what if there was a solid aftermath, what if that violence began to result in actual monsters, the kind of result that would continue to perpetuate destruction, and a result for which the humans were entirely responsible. And I wanted to give that violence a shape that could be fought, conquered, at a time when it feels like there's nothing we can do to effect change, to fight back.
