Goodreads asked Randy Anderson:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Randy Anderson Hmmm... My immediate answer to this is Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald. But, of course, they're real people. However, their relationship has been written about both directly and indirectly through Scott's novels, so much that in a way, it's become fictional. So I'm sticking with that answer despite the fact that technically, it's not answering the question.

A real fictional couple I truly enjoyed was in Pete Hamill's FOREVER. The protagonist has many relationships because of his unnaturally long life, but when Cormac settles in with the lower Manhattan Madam in the early 1800's, if I'm remembering right, her affection offers him an unusual peace that I believe is universally desired but seldom obtained.
