After a recommendation from my sister, I've been searching for all of Walter Mosley's books. Like all great fiction, his has the ability to transport the reader to a specific time and place, allowing a view into a world I wouldn't otherwise know. Does anyone have a recommendation on which of his books you would most recommend?

I'd suggest starting with the first Easy Rawlins novel: 'Devil in a Blue Dress'. Warning: if you watch the film then you won't be able to read an Easy Rawlins book without thinking of him as Denzel Washington but then, no harm in that ;-)
Otherwise, I really loved 'The Man in My Basement', but it's not a very typical Mosely novel.

Start with this specific book. I loved it so much. The man in my basement is quite a thriller.
