I've loved a lot of the books that were widely loved, but int he interest of variety, I'll share a few I considered good discoveries:
PERFECT PEACE by Daniel Black
SWEET GUM TREE by Katherine Allred (this is not a romance despite its label)
HALF OF A YELLOW SUN by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
THE GOOD HOUSE by Ann Leary
And Elizabeth Gilbert's novel, THE SIGNATURE OF ALL THINGS, which I didn't think got nearly enough kudos.
