Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Sara L. Daigle I have lots of favorite couples, but in this place, in this moment, I love Ross and Demelza Poldark from the Poldark series. Winston Graham draws a finely tuned picture of a couple who love each other--but without the overly optimistic, fairy-tale, or the tragic, Romeo and Juliet themes that many authors like to put into relationships. They are, simply, two people who care enough to put energy and effort into each other and the entity/being that is them as a couple. It's not always easy, and they have ups and downs, but you could believe they are real people facing real questions and real life. Despite the "realism", it isn't negative or depressing. There is a basic love of life and people in Winston Graham's writings that is a joy to experience when you read the books.
