Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

C. Sharp Hmmm. Off the top of my head, I'm going to have to go with Beren and Luthien from Chapter 19 of JRRT's The Silmarillion. They have the star-crossed aspect of Romeo & Juliet going on - but are both badasses to the core. Beren is this lone revenge hero who encapsulates the notion of human perseverance through suffering, and Luthien is this superhero elf princess who keeps busting all the rules, defying authority, and saving the day for her man again and again. It also has some of the best ancillary roles of any epic: like an army of werewolves, Vampire-warlock Sauron in his younger years, and the original Dark Lord, Morgoth. B & L, and their tragic love saga has it all.
