Karen
Karen asked Lisa Jackson:

Hi Lisa! My question is about your day-to-day writing. What is a typical day like for you? Do you have any routines that you feel help with the writing process?

Lisa Jackson No routines except when I’m near the end of the book, then I’m “into” it 24-7. I eat, breathe and sleep to write. I do not suggest anyone do it this way, but I’m definitely like a train that picks up steam as I write. My only routine is I try to get as much sleep as possible because writing the way I do, again not recommended, is exhausting. To help with the process? Hmmm. I think breaks of walking and doing puzzles, hanging out with my dogs and family help me focus. I’m a morning person, get up early, deal with the dogs, letting them out and feeding them, read the paper, do the extra dishes and get to it with a cup of coffee. I break for breakfast and lunch and wrap it up by two in the afternoon if I’m lucky, or unless I’m on deadline. That’s about it.
