Robin Mclain
Robin Mclain asked Lisa Jackson:

Do you actually travel to the cities that your novels are set in or have you ever written a novel about a state or city which you have never been and if so how do you research a place you've never been before?

Lisa Jackson Good question. I travel to the cities I write about often, though not always. Most of the cities I write about such as Savannah and New Orleans or San Francisco I’ve visited. For others I do a lot of on-line research and usually get a book or two about the town, but the reference books have to be current or I’m in trouble. It also helps if I know people in the areas, for local insight. Many times, though, I create my own fictitious town such as Grizzly Falls, Montana.
