Cheryl Russell
Cheryl Russell asked Lisa Jackson:

How did you cope with rejection when you were first starting out? I have written a novel and getting lots of rejections from agents. Have you any suggestions on the way forward?

Lisa Jackson I’m not sure how I would find an agent these days. It’s been so many years ago for me and the industry has changed a lot in that time. If I were to begin writing as a career now, I’d probably try my hand at self-publishing e-books as a way to start making a name for myself. Rejection is always tough, but unfortunately it’s a big part of this business. You have to have a thick skin. Also as writing is a lonely profession it’s good to have some trusted people around you to help you, critique partners and good friends to read your work or cheer you up or buy you a drink. Chin up!
