Lois McMaster Bujold:
Is there a character-driven speculative fiction series (other than your own) that's especially high on your list? (Before too long I'll have run through all of yours, even accounting for rereads.)
Lois McMaster Bujold
I am fond of Megan Whalen Turner's alternate-Greece-ish series starting with The Thief, and Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London urban fantasy, first book Rivers of London, retitled Midnight Riot in its US release.
I have also been drawn into the manga/anime from CLAMP titled Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, which has an obligate narrative interlock with their other series xxxHolic. One can spend many, many hours trying to figure out wtf is going on with the plot/s, but it's the characters that induce me to bother.
Just for starters.
Anyone else have some faves?

? Wanted to send you a note to say how much I have enjoyed the Vorkosigan saga. My husband introduced me to Shards of Honor, and I fell in love with your writing style and the characters. We just got a new puppy this weekend and named him Ivan. My husband wanted to be able to yell, "That idiot Ivan!" when the dog does something. Thought it was a perfect name for a lovable pup that will inevitably become a scapegoat.

Recently I read parts of my first book, published 11 years and books ago, to get details for a sequel. I was surprised at the skill of that alien time-lost author. Have you ever experienced anything similar? By the way, as I do every few years, I'm re-reading the Vorkosigan stories starting with Cordelia's books. I'm buying the ebook versions despite having the print books. Eyesight changes make ebooks easier to read.
