Which of your books was hardest to write and why?

Jennifer A. Nielsen Hi Rachel! Each book has its challenges. Some push me harder emotionally, others with the technical writing, and others for the demands of research. However, overall, I'd say Mark of the Thief was the most difficult, mostly because of the research required and the challenge of integrating Ancient Rome with an alternate history of magic. However, I'm very proud of the books and have loved to see the enthusiastic reaction of fans of that series.
