Hi. My cousin wants to read this book but she is extremely upset by descriptions of physical and sexual abuse? Is there content of this nature? If so, how descriptive is it? Spoilers are OK. Thanks in advance?

Having worked professionally, with children of all ages, for over 35 years, I think this book is good for 6th graders on. If they are very sensitive, they need to talk about it or write about it. I do not think teachers should assign it, until 8th or 9th grade.(less)
