I enjoyed learning about the Japanese folklore in The Girl From The Well will any or all your books have some sort of Japanese culture within them? It was very neat to include actually facts and actually info from the Japanese folklore Okiku and make it your own.

Thank you! :) I suppose it's not a secret that I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture, and ghost stories are a big favorite of mine. The Bone Witch series also has a mix of that and some Middle Eastern culture / philosophy.
I can't say that all my future books are going to have Japanese culture in them - I'm working on one right now that's a modern spin on classic fairy tales, so there's a hodgepodge of cultures depending on the fairy tale I'm writing about for that particular scene / chapter. I have a half-finished manuscript somewhere that's all about Filipino mythology, and another future steampunk novel that would combine Chinese culture with one specific Japanese pop culture element (that's a secret right now, until I figure out how to get it right!). So I guess you can say that the majority of my work will always be inspired by Asian influences.

Do you ever play horror video games? The Suffering kept making me think of the mid 2000s games like early Silent Hill and Fatal Frame 2, and I was wondering if you had played and were inspired by any of them. I'd also like to say that your books are darker and creepier than many of the horror novels I've read that are aimed at adults, and are some of the best novels I've ever read.

I see that you answered another user's question indicating that both Japanese and Middle Eastern culture and philosophy are the resounding influence behind The Bone Witch, but are the terms that you used in TBW (e.g. hua, asha-ka, cha-khana - pretty much all of the ones that are italicized) made up or did you pull those from one of the influencing cultures that you mentioned?

I just finished the girl from the well and this is one of the best books I have ever read. The ending to this was beautiful. I immediately subscribed to your mailing list and saw that there will be a second book to this and I literally started screaming I am so excited. You have literally become my favorite author because of the girl from the well. I love your writing! Does the second book have a release date yet?
