No, sorry, they're not, but much of the backstory is missing on purpose anyway. You're not missing out.
There were some biographical details and a brief account of the murder of Sir Roderick Hardcastle in the original edition of "A Quiet Life...", but many of the individual escapades that they refer to will probably never be fully documented.
I've put little bits of the biographies (which are slightly different now) into the new versions, and I'm hoping to be able to get an account of the Shanghai adventures into Book 4. As the series goes on, I'm sure I'll add more detail.
There seems to be some interest in a "prequel" and I might discuss it with my publisher, but there's a sense in which that might spoil it. They're supposed to have a "mysterious past" and I do wonder if it might take some of the fun away by spelling it out in detail.

I am new to Lady Hardcastle and her tiny servant and I absolutely love them! I finished the 2 books in 4 days. The characters are amazing and I love your writing style. I saw that you were doing new versions and those were the ones I read, did I miss anything from not reading the originals? A story about the circus was touched on and I didn't know if that was in book form or just something we are to speculate on?

Her husband sounds wonderful. Doesn't their relationship deserve to be heard? Thank you for the wonderful series.
