It was really emotional and I did cry at parts but I didn't find that it was way too unbearable for me to read although it was very sad. I think it's fine to read 13 upwards but as a warning, it's very dramatic and horrid at parts. If you are an overly sensitive teenager, then maybe this isn't the book for you. x(less)
