Sharon Behringer No, not at all. This book stands on it's on. I've read some shocking reviews in which they trash the book saying the heroine is whiny but what must be remembered is that this book was written in 1989. A day and age in which many women were not as adventurous a we are in today's world. Honestly, if any of us were thrown back in time to the 1600s I imagine that we might be rather whiny indeed. It's a love story and one of my all time favorites. I hope you take the opportunity to read it. Everyone I know loved it.
