Well, I guess I'd have to say "Moby Dick,' but I wrote it so long ago I can't say for sure (I mean, I'd just come off a whaling vessel after sailing around the world and I was full of beans). Aside from that, though, I've always had a fond spot for "Water Music" and "World's End." And, for the first time ever, I had the opportunity in November to re-read one of my novels--"Drop City"--because of a movie tie-in, and I found it to be a pretty good read. With some depth. And some chill.

(continued) oftentimes disturbing aspects of your stories? You capture the highs and lows of life so acurately, and many of them end without comfortable resolution, in what I would refer to as postmodern nihilism. Are they cathartic or are you simply some unconstrained fountain of creativity?
