Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Karina Lumbert Fabian Discovery was a NaNoWriMo work based on some characters my husband and I had come up with - religious sisters who do search and rescue operations in space. The NaNo story was more a character study of Sister Rita and her struggle with doubts about her vocation, especially now that she had fled the Earth to join the Order of Our Lady of the Rescue. As with many NaNoWriMo works, it was a little shallow for my tastes. Over the years I worked on it - 8 - her story became a minor subplot while the overarching challenge was dealing with an alien artifact that let you see into your own soul.
