how did you come up with idea for if only ? did you get inspiration from one person or many people because when i read the book it was amazing and at the same time sad. plz make more

I was inspired by the many kids and adults whose stories about loss I have listened to as a social worker. I also drew on some of my own experiences during my mother's illness and death. Thanks for your questions and encouragement! I am working on another young adult novel, with a different cast of characters and challenges.
