What are some books that you feel really influenced the either or both of the books you published this year? Or just really influenced you as a writer generally?

Alice Walker's Possessing the Secret of Joy influenced me a great deal as I wrote An Untamed State. It's a book that is both political and a beautiful work of fiction and it was toward that book that I aspired as I wrote my own novel that is both political and a work of fiction.

Hi! Pretty thrilled I have the opportunity to ask you a question directly...! In Bad Feminist you mention having a blog. I'm currently trying to set my own blog up but seem to have a pretty bad case of writer's block. Do you have any tips for getting an authentic image of yourself out there? Or any tips on actually getting started writing blog posts? We're a big fan of your work in Dublin :)
