Hi Jeff, I just finished The Short And Tragic Life of Robert Peace, and I must applaud you as it was a fantastic read, made me stop and think often about Robert, and those in a similar situation to him. My question is this: is there any update on Robert's case? Has the case gone cold or has it been looked into since publication? Additionally, do you have any updates on Jackie, the Burger Boyz, and other characters?

Hello and thank you for reading and reaching out. It means a lot, for real. And I'm sorry for the years-long delay in responding to this--I really don't spend time on social websites but am trying to be better as my next book, Show Them You're Good, comes out in August. But it's kind of you to ask after Jackie and everyone. They are all doing pretty well--still very sad, particularly around this time of year (Rob's birthday was yesterday). But carrying on, working, raising families, wondering what Rob would be doing if he were still with us. Jackie retired a few years ago but still works part time and also helps with food in the school district. Wishing you all the best, sincerely, Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for writing such a compelling tribute to the life of Rob (and Jackie) Peace. You weave the gamut of your emotions into a poignant and infuriatingly real narrative that opened my eyes to the complexity of Rob’s choices and the circumstances beyond his control. Do you think Jackie knew what Carl did at the time? And was staying with Jackie Carl’s way of replacing Rob as man of the house?

Something that dances around the edges of your book is the challenge of finding a secure job, as hard for the Yale graduates as for Robert's friends from Newark. Do you think coming of age this era--recession, lack of jobs--contributed an additional heavy burden for Robert? Or does the story feel timeless?

Jeff, First off, let me say that your book literally made my top 10 (maybe top 1) list of all time. I love the way you write and truly felt like I was there with you during the story. I have thought often of contacting you with a book idea (which you probably receive all of the time)! Is there a good way to contact you about this? Thanks again for such a powerful book. Stacy
