I love the Ascendence trilogy. I was wondering if you had any ideas for one of your books that you had to cut out of the overall story. If so why? And what is an example of one. Thanks, you do amazing work

(view spoiler)[Hi Shannen! There were scenes in every book of the series that didn't end up in the final draft. In The False Prince, Sage and Imogen originally had a kissing scene on the ledge outside the inn. In The Runaway King, an early scene had Jaron falling out of a tree while trying to eavesdrop on a king visiting for his family's funeral. In The Shadow Throne, there was an early version where part of the story was told from Tobias's perspective and the reader got to see him falling in love with Amarinda.
I loved all of these scenes, but ultimately they took away from the overall pace and tone of the story. There is a concept in writing called "Killing your Darlings," where you cut something you love because it's in the best interest of the story. That's what happened here. (hide spoiler)]

Hello. My name is Eve Omelsky, I'm twelve, and I abosolutely love you historical fiction novels. You are one of the favorite authors. I want to become a writer one day, just like you. I really admire you work. I was just wondering if you could one day write a blog post on writing historical fiction, the process, and the research? I'd appreciate it very much.
