Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Sneed B. Collard III I got the idea for BORDER CROSSINGS (winner of the 2024 Orbis Pictus Award for nonfiction) from visiting the border region with my son and learning how connected ecosystems are between the US and Mexico. When President Trump started building the border wall, no one talked about its huge impact on animals and the environment, and I wanted to write a book to help raise awareness on this crucial issue.
