Goodreads asked Kristin Rath:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Kristin Rath Write, write, write. Exercise that writing muscle so it becomes stronger. Don't expect all your writing to be great...but know that the more you write, the more often you will find those beautiful moments when you see you have a gem in there.

Also, the more you write, you will find your authentic voice. While you can look to mentors and "the greats" for inspiration and guidance, you should only be yourself when you write. I found my voice by allowing my soul to spill upon the pages. I said things I would never have said out loud before. At first, my words were only for me...but when I felt ready, I shared them with those I trusted. I saw how I could affect others in a positive way. My voice was valuable, valued, and unique. Readers don't want to hear iterations of author voices...they want to hear yours.
