Hi Vivi!
Well, my main inspiration was Romeo and Juliet. I wanted to see what would happen if Romeo was so damaged by his breakup with Rosaline, that he ran a mile when he met Juliet, because he knew she had the potential to hurt him even more. That was the seed that grew into the entire story. Self-protection is a very strong motivator, but love is even stronger, so it intrigued me to think about a guy who was desperate to protect himself, but couldn't stay away from his soul mate.
