Ohhhh! Totally missed that. For all her wordiness, Tana French could be a little more obvious since I'm not the only one that missed that, lol. This detail adds SO much.
Jo
Wow I completely missed that. This makes it so much sadder that their friendship/relationship went down in flames.

I missed it too. When it takes an entire paragraph to describe the way the grass feels as they lounge around in the yard having a picnic with a few bottles of wine, I had to skip ahead a few times. I did love love love her choice of words in her descriptions throughout the book, I just didn't like hearing it described 3 times in 3 different ways. I still gave her 5 stars.
Kelly
NOOOOOOOOO!!!! I DID NOT SEE THAT!!!!!!!!! But it makes so much sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man. THAT'S a killer.
Nicki
Yes that was my understanding as well.
I'm Fine, Just Tired
I didn't think I could hate Rob anymore, but here we are.
Sam
I also missed this! Wow!! Definitely changes things and I agree it’s so much sadder now about Rob! I still wish he could’ve gotten himself together.... I’m not over it!! And I just finished the likeness. I like Rob so much more than Sam, even though he ended up being a jerk to her. Sam is so boring! But I guess if it was real life I would like Sam better as a spouse so there..
Sue
I read The Likeness before In the Woods. This explains the situation in In the Woods.
Mk
Dammit! Maybe I should have read these books in a sequence but I read The Likeness before In the Woods and now I am completely gobsmacked at the whole situation in the second book.

Wow, yeah, she mentioned multiple times earlier in the book how easy it was to go to England to get rid of a baby and I still totally missed the meaning of this sentence that was later slipped in there. I just finished this book and now will be thinking about it a lot more today because of this question!
Linda
I don't know how I could have missed that crucially important detail when I loved the first book enough to try the second. I kept wondering why Cassie didn't try to get in touch with Rob, but this explains it.
Rachel
WHOOAA! That part confused me, I was like why was she in England??? Wow. Missed that.
Ruth Griggs
Yes. I had to go back and re-read it because I thought, “Did I just read what I thought I read?” She mentioned it earlier in the book about women going to England for an abortion.
Lisa
Huh... missed that too. But, then again, there was so much filler I didn't read every single long tedious passage.
Ashley Foo Foo
So this question is 3 years old but I didn't know until I watched the dublin murders and then read the end of the likeness again that cassie had been pregnant with robs baby. It was def not clear at all in the book.

Good catch! I think you are totally right!
Raianne
I caught that and was veryyyyy frustrated and upset. Why did it go down in flames if she told him to imagine what would have happened between them? That's seriously messed up. This left me gobsmacked because I fancy rob and hate absolutely hate sam no matter how nice he is, I hate him for taking cassie away. Also, I wish that when cassie called rob that she talked to him and told him everything, so their bond could have rekindled and they could have become best friends and all like before and maybe even more, but no that's not how it ended up happening and I'm gobsmacked now.
Beems
I missed that too! Makes sense though.
Charles
Yes. However, I don't see this as being a spoiler? Its part of the character housekeeping the author included after the story ended.
