Goodreads asked Glynnis Campbell:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Glynnis Campbell Most medieval romance authors write about lords and ladies or knights in shining armor. I'm also interested in the common folk. There were so many interesting professions in Tudor times! I have a college degree in Vocal Music, so I know a lot about singing Renaissance madrigals. Thus was born my heroine, Mery Graham, a traveling minstrel. As for my hero, I love a man who can cook, so I decided to make Tristan MacKenzie a chef to Mary Queen of Scots. French influence was strong in 16th Century Scotland, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the cuisine! I was lucky enough to get a special tour at Stirling Castle with the Tudor chef there, who gave me loads of insight into the workings of the kitchens!
