Hello Lois. I just read Penric's Mission and I loved it, so thank you! BUT: how do you pronounce Nikys? Logic tells me it should be 'nick-ice', but it kept slipping in my head into 'nick-eece' (like geese). So I figured, consult the authority... Thanks!

Lois McMaster Bujold Well, people can pronounce it however they please, but I pronounce it more-or-less the way you do -- NICK-ees.

(The one I'm really having trouble deciding is Skirose, which could go any of three or four different ways. If Grover Gardner calls to ask, I'll have to make up my mind.)

Given our current political climate, malices, ground work, and beguilement have a very different meaning this read around. Did you have any political/authoritarian fears as you wrote these books?
