Celia Adams asked this question about Rejected Princesses: Tales of History's Boldest Heroines, Hellions, and Heretics:
What ages would this book be appropriate for? I know a 12-year old who I'd love to introduce to the badass women of history, but I don't want it for her if its aimed at older audiences.

Having just read it with my 11 year I think the entries he selected on the website are a good sampling of what is in the book. He's very matter of fact about some subjects that may make you uncomfortable to read with a pre-teen. It depends on your family. He isn't graphic and doesn't necessarily have a lot of details, just matter of fact about things that happen in life. There are mentions of incest, rape, people have mistresses. There are heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual people.

I will also say that my 11 year old boy read it and really liked it. These are stories of people, who are women, who take on the world and everything it could dish out. I think that the stories are rated and may have taboo subjects in the code, added to the excitement but in a good draw you in to history way. (less)
