I think yes. Sex & swearing is something that everyone will be exposed to eventually. Why not read about it? I think you should read whatever you want.

Depends on the 12 year old. With a lot of parental discussion, it could work for some. Otherwise, I think it should be required reading for all seniors in high school,

No, there is a lot of sex talk and it definitely geared toward adults.

No, no, no! Although some of this book is interesting and it much of it is racial issues and to African American issues in everyday life today. It is also full of swear words, references to sex, etc. that would be inappropriate to a 12 year old. I was deeply disappointed in this book that I was looking forward to. I never heard of Phoebe Robinson before, had I then I might have skipped it altogether.
