Hi. Perhaps you answer this in your other series...but I was wondering why Royce pushed them to go ahead and take the job from Thrace when it went against our expectations for that character? Don't get me wrong, I love that part! But his reasoning was never explained and I was wondering if there was a reason.
Michael J. Sullivan
Well, there are a few reasons, but the biggest is that Hadrian was going to quit Riyria and go his own way. Royce doesn't have much in his life and he really couldn't bear losing Hadrian. Also Gwen had made a prediction that Hadrian would die, and she felt that if Royce was with him that future could be averted. Not entirely sure he knew what he would do AFTER that "last job." Maybe come up with another and another. In any case, events transpired so it turned out not to be their last time together and the rest, as they say, is history.

Just finished The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter. Wow! What a great story! Loved it! Question: I _thought_ I've read everything regarding Riyria, but in the Author's Note in this book, you mentioned this is the 10th book about Royce and Hadrian? I can't get the math to add up, so which book am I missing? Revelations (3 books) + Chronicles (4) + The Jester + ??

Hello!!!! I am a huge fan of your books and just have a few questions. How did so much of the knowledge that brin surely would have written down get messed up in riyira? Are the gods even the gods? If not what powers do they have, because ferrols law is real. Does the door lead to the afterlife or alysin? How does mawndule learn how to create things without sacrifice? Do any other art users know how to do this and why
