Ecke Brandt asked:

Do you have to read the second one to read this one? I'm interested in Miranda's story, not in the other guy's.

K.E. (HowTheHoursGoBy) Depends. You get a lot more knowledge on Alex’s story, and you get where he’s coming from at certain moments of the book. To be honest, I hated it, but Miranda’s story is always good. Dead and the Gone wasted my time, but it’s not horrible in all aspects. Besides, some people DO like it.

Skip if you’re uninterested. I understand that you posted this two years ago, but it’s your call.
Marla not at all
i picked it up at the library -- the book on tape -- and i didn't realize it was a trilogy until after
but man, i'd skip it.
Siti Sumaiyyah I know this question was years ago but like everyone else said, it's not as good as Miranda's story but you may gain more sympathy and understand why Alex is was the way he was in This World We Live In. Otherwise he may be of some annoyance to you at some points in the third book. Plus it's a completely different story so it's not like it would spoil how you feel about Miranda's journey.

Lucy06 The Dead and the Gone (#2) only focuses on what happens in the East coast and with Alex Morales and his family; his struggle to leave N.Y. In my opinion is not necessary but you'll get to experience another point of view.
