I know Pen & Des is still in progress, but what if Des were still around during Ista's time? Do you think it might be interesting if Des and Ista met somehow?

That is far beyond the scope of the current work-in-progress. I already have at least four rabbits to chase, and if I don't narrow it down, no story can be written at all. So, speculate away, but it's not a question I can answer.

Dear Ms. McMaster Bujold, Thank you so much for answering all these questions! Of the Vorkosigan books, A Civil Campaign is especially delightful because it's a departure from the tone of the series -- I always think of it as a comedy of manners after lots of (wonderful) space opera, military fiction, family drama, etc. Did you conceive of it this way? Are there other modes that you'd like to write in but haven't?

I suppose the answer will be "if narrative causality demands it* but I have to ask: is Jin Sato almost destined to become a biologist on Sergyar under the instruction of commodore Jole [ret.]? Or the Betan Survey. (Or both). Iknow the Vorkosigan series has ended ... Three times? But this ending feels the realest and so Jin's higher education ambitions will sadly be unexplored ...
