I absolutely LOVE The Spy Princess! It's my all-time favorite stand alone book, and probably always will be. And, I was wondering, what gave you the inspiration to write it?

Thank you! I wrote it when I was fifteen, over one summer (when I was in summer school, and should have been studying algebra for the second time). It fit into a series I was writing at the time--the publishers made me cut out all the connections to other stories for marketing reasons. When I rewrote it, I understood that, though there were many other inspirations, I was writing about a disabled hero who never touched a sword, but became a hero anyway.

Hey Sherwood, I was wondering if you have any story ideas such as characters, items, or places that you've thrown out or given up on that I can use for one of my stories? The story that I'm thinking of is about an island where all story bits end up if they are thrown out or given up on. I've asked other authors so I can get a variety and some truth to the story. It's fine if you don't want to share any. Thanks. Hannah
