You don't have to, no previous information is necessary. Technically this story line is an arc that was started back a few books ago - but it is not critical other than to know he was on his way back to Virginia. The books in between have no relevance to this story, He kinda got sidetracked on his way to Virginia.

I recommend reading 61 Hours, Worth Dying For, and A Wanted Man at least. Though I really recommend reading them all in order.

I read the whole series in order and so some of the details about a few peripheral characters and events make it easier to understand, but I do not think it is essential, i.e. you will still be able to grasp what's going on - bad guys do something to get 'hero's' attention and active into a situation that might otherwise just be ignored.

I think this book takes off directly from the end of 61 hours, so that's pretty worth reading.
