I find that every time I read one of your books I end up in tears (in a good way, if that's possible...), how do you think of such heartbreaking stories?

Katie McGarry Hi Jacqui,

I always tell people I'm inspired by the everyday. There are some conversations in my life that I have never been able to let go and sometimes I base my stories off of those.

For instance, I remember one person telling me that when things became too much in their home, they would sneak out and stay the night in the cemetery because no one went to a cemetery at night so they knew they were safe.

That's where I got the initial idea for Red at Night.
