Tricia asked:

"Wishin and Hopin" is the only Wally Lamb book that I haven't read. To those that have read "I'll Take You There", do you recommend that I read "Wishin and Hopin" first?

Margo Ball I don't think it is critical, but "Wishin and Hopin" is a light, fast, and utterly delicious read. You could knock it off in one lazy afternoon--preferably by a fire with a plate of cookies and a glass of wine.
Janet Wishing and Hoping is a wonderful, funny book. If you grew up Catholic and went to Catholic school, it is even funnier. Laugh out loud. Not at all like his other books.
Kevin Roones "Wishin and Hopin" is a very quick read. It's also quite good. Go ahead and knock it off before the new one comes out.
Donna I don't think I'll Take You There will be available until late November 2016.
Gina Whitlock You could, but I don't think you need to. You would probably enjoy it.
Corinne I do - just because I'm anal about reading books in order. This will tell some of the story of Felix's childhood. And as so many others said, it's a quick read.
I had actually started "I'll Take You There" when I found out that "Wishin and Hopin" is kind of a prequel. So I stopped & read "Wishin & Hopin" 1st!
George I hope ya read it! I echo all the sentiments already posted!
Leah I just read "I"ll take you there" and haven't read "Wishin and Hopin". I didn't know I had missed a Wally Lamb book until I read about it just now! There is nothing in "I'll take you there" that needs to be filled in by the other book.
Helen Not at all. Wishing and Hoping is totally different. I laughed out loud literally when reading Wishing and Hoping years ago. Just loved it. I am almost finished his newest book, I'll take you there. Loving this book too. Enjoy them both. I know I did.
Pam Wishin and Hopin is delightful. I'm certain you would enjoy it. It's worth reading.
