by the time you find out, you will have ceased caring.
Ben Schneider
Yes and it's ultimately so satisfying.
Cardie
I just don't care about these characters. I finished but reluctantly
Charles Miller
yes and so much more

Leaves where? Faye leaves many places . . . . If you mean why she leaves her son and husband--yes. And why she leaves college, yes. And why she leaves America--yes. It's the whole point of the book, is it not, to detail how Faye "leaves" things in her life.

alien abduction.
Susan Grebe
Of course. Why wouldn't we? That's a major point of the whole novel.

Yes, a little bit at a time. I found it mesmerizing.

Yes you will find out eventually.

I'd argue that we don't get a completely solid or single answer about why she leaves her family. We learn a lot of things about her past and current life, and we can surmise and fill in the gaps why she left. But unless I missed something (possible, since I often read before falling asleep), I don't believe she ever gives a definitive answer. (Unlike, say, why she left Chicago/college, which is spelled out pretty directly).
