Do you ever base parts of your books on things you have had happen to you in your life?

Jennifer A. Nielsen Little details, sometimes. For example, I am left-handed, so I made Sage (THE FALSE PRINCE) a leftie. I tend to like snakes, which is why they appear in THE SCOURGE. However, while many of my characters reflect my attitudes and opinions, their experiences tend to be unique to them...which is good, because I am super mean to my characters.

So, you know how your inspiration comes from songs? Well the only songs that really inspire me are the ones that you don't hear very often and I am writing a book. I can't seem to find something to bring up ideas.
