The author admits, that he tries to keep these two characters separated except when their paths cross because their worlds are not part of the same circle, but they are related to each other through their father as half-siblings, which backstory has nothing to do with their current lifestyle situations.
On that note, there are at present time (6/30/2022) six books so far in the Mickey Haller series, so the next book #4 is The Fifth Witness(less)
