I love Ascendance Trilogy, and Mark of Thief trilogy, and Scourge. How do you come up with so many different characters? Each one has the their own personalities. The most colorful one is Ani Mells from the Scourge, I laughed so hard.

Thanks for asking, Desiree. I try to think of each of my characters as a unique individual, not just a device to advance the plot. I've studied personality a lot and the factors that shape who we are. I work hard on a character's backstory, because that affects personality so deeply. Also, I usually give my character's a secret, because they way they guard their secret, and who they choose to reveal it to, says a lot about them as a person.
I am so glad you liked Ani! She's a definite favorite of mine too!

Jennifer, I just wanted to share my review of your book 'A Night Divided', it really touched me personally and brought back a lot of memories. By far one of the best historical fiction books I've read about a period in time that often gets overlooked by us in the USA. Keep up the good work!!!! http://www.compassbookratings.com/reviews/index.php/review/view/1905 Any new historical fiction books in the works?

I was wondering since a lot of the narrating characters in your books have some similar traits that I love such as bravery, not hesitant to get into trouble, etc. did you like writing characters with those personalities or do you find it easy to write those characters to go with your plot better or do you get the inspiration from your own personality?
