I love Ascendance Trilogy, and Mark of Thief trilogy, and Scourge. How do you come up with so many different characters? Each one has the their own personalities. The most colorful one is Ani Mells from the Scourge, I laughed so hard.

Jennifer A. Nielsen Thanks for asking, Desiree. I try to think of each of my characters as a unique individual, not just a device to advance the plot. I've studied personality a lot and the factors that shape who we are. I work hard on a character's backstory, because that affects personality so deeply. Also, I usually give my character's a secret, because they way they guard their secret, and who they choose to reveal it to, says a lot about them as a person.

I am a big fan of your books, in fact I started reading them only last month and I couldn't stop until I finished them all hehe, the ascendance trilogy is my favorite among them, there are many who requested this and I would just like to add my voice to them, I hope there will be a continuation for Jaron's story, even if it's just a Novella?, I really miss my beloved characters there 😊

do you have any tips for aspiring writers? I always seem to come up with plots but then wind up abandoning them after a chapter or am disappointed in the results as it becomes more essay length than novel length.
