How is Dawn Rochelle doing now after the last book? She was my favorite character you ever wrote except for the girls of the Wish Foundation series where they all went to camp together.

Lurlene McDaniel I wrote about Dawn all through her school years, and hope I left the impression that she was a survivor. When that book first came out Dawn's type of leukemia had a very low survival rate. Today, when caught early, that rate is now very high. Medicine has made great strides. The girl I based Dawn's character on was Rochelle Dove. She died before the book was published, but her family said they were blessed to have the world meet their beloved daughter in the pages of SIX MONTHS TO LIVE. Shelly died at age 23.
