It is not like Steelheart at all. Steelheart is YA, not juvenile and quite a bit darker and more adult than Alcatraz. I mean David is 18 at the start of Steelheart, where Alcatraz is only 13 at the start of the Evil Librarians (first book).

I would say that Alcatraz is more along the lines of the first 4 Harry Potter books, while Steelheart is not.(less)
