(view spoiler)[First off, I'd like to state that I love your trilogy from the first page and finished it earlier this year. I'm actually trying to read it again since I mostly grasped it as a 13 year old and want grab at whatever straws are left. Anyways, what did the Flea mean that he loved Finn, was it love like a brother or romantic love? Also, how would Valyn turn out if Ha Lin hadn't died? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Thanks, Assassin!
The Flea's love for Finn is romantic--not something that ever comes up directly in the earlier books because Kettral, especially senior Kettral, don't tend to talk about their emotional lives with cadets. It's hinted at, however, in Gwenna's plot line when Delka talks about knowing the Flea when they were cadets.
As for Valyn, it's hard to say just what could have turned him away from that dark, dark path that he took. Certainly, though, Ha Lin brought a great deal of joy and humor to his life that disappeared after her death. I suspect that, even after eating the dark egg, he would have become a different person if she were alive... (hide spoiler)]

Hi Brian, I have just finished reading The Last Mortal Bond and I loved the trilogy so much! I liked that you said in the acknowledgements that this is a love story and I kind of understand that, even if the outcome is pretty sad. Did you ever considered, at some point, the possibility of an happy ending for the major characters or did you really wanted hordes of fans crying? Thank you for your time!
