We don't spend much time in detention - the story follows and is not a retelling of The Breakfast Club. Each character's story bears little resemblance to TBC - The brain is a girl this time instead of a boy and there is no "goth" outsider girl or boy. The four characters are a jock baseball player boy, the popular girl (by way of her boyfriend), the smart girl and , the outsider guy. While reading, I didn't once flash on TBC, and I saw that when it originally came out (yes, I liked the outsider - Judd Nelson). Good young adult story that held the attention of this full grown woman.
