I see you are following my reviews and that you asked to be my friend. Can you tell me what inspired you to make the request? I don't think that I know you. I don't believe I have read any of your books. The newest one sounds intriguing.

I've been tootling around on Goodreads for a couple of years now but finally thought I should try to get more from it. Ultimately, I want to find folk who might be interested in what I write (my reviews and my books), but I'm also interested in folk who like to read genres that I'm into, specifically mystery, humour and all things Japan-related. I'm getting progressively tired of the interactions that I get on Facebook and Twitter as more often than not I'm just interested in books, not political opinions or blow-dried cats. Although there is a place for them too. Anyway, I requested your friendship because I agreed with your reviews of Keigo Higashino's books and noticed you've read and reviewed a lot more Japan books than I have.

Hi Patrick--I just listened to your interview on Paul's podcast and really enjoyed it. And as an Evertonian, I was pleased you didn't neglect my team in your colouring book series! Like you, I've lived here for ages. I published my first indie novel last year and have just put my second up for pre-order. Do you get to Tokyo occasionally? I'd love to meet up with you, though scheduling can be a problem. John Boyd
