The short answer is that I'm not always inspired! But I write anyway! The long answer is that I follow a routine, and by doing that, I've sort of trained my brain to kick into great at certain times or in certain settings. I get up 5-6 mornings a week around 5:15 to write until close to 7. That happens whether I'm "inspired" or not. s also often go to my local public library on Saturday afternoons while the kids are in "quiet time" and my husband is at home. I spread my papers, pens, and laptop on the big table and get to work.
Some days the words flow and I get up from my chair feeling awesome, and other days that inspiration is dry as a desert and I know I'll likely be deleting many of those words the next day. But any progress is good, so I try not to beat myself up too much.

Hi Lauren, I loved The Hideaway--perfect for long summer afternoons to curl up with. I had just one question about when Mags takes over the house--did the former owner just will it to her or did she buy it from her? That part escapes me (my logical brain wonders). And also, how could the house maintain itself with all these seniors just living there and not contributing much? That financial angle has me wondering.

Congratulations on the publication of your first book! How long after "the end" was it till you were able to get your book in print? (My daughter has been working on the same novel for several years - - getting critiques, re-writing. I want to read it, but she won't let me until it is "Finished". Argh!)
