Goodreads asked Jessica Jesinghaus:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jessica Jesinghaus I have my grandmother to thank for getting me started down this path. She encouraged me to start writing when I was ten years old. My first short story centered around a skeleton key she had brought home as a souvenir from a castle in Spain. The tale was replete with teen angst, nightmares, and haunted suits of armor. After that, I had 'the bug.'

Story ideas seem to hit me like lightning. I'll often wake in the middle of the night with an idea and I have to begin writing it immediately... even if it's just a page or two. If I wait too long the idea withers and is harder for me to flesh out in the future.
